Introducing Me

Good Evening,

My name is May Colville, I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Heritage, Museum and Conservation. I have a background in Archaeology from ANU and UNE. I have also undertaken a couple of volunteer projects under the auspices of the University of Sydney and the American Archaeological Center.

Outside of my schooling, I am a Canberra girl who loves to travel, I just got back from a year in Canada and am already dreaming about my next trip. Also I am a huge nerd, love sci-fi shows and movies and am always up for a good (or not) fantasy novel.

I am taking this unit as it is required, although the use of the internet for history has never really interested me, the use of new technologies and new application of old technologies has. For example LiDAR and Geospatial Imaging for mapping and identifying archaeological sites has always interested me.

Anyway, I hope that gives you a good idea of who I am as a person and I look forward to interacting with you all as the unit and degree unfolds.

Best Wishes,

May Colville

PS I am a sucker for a good pun.7add9562a2b8295292306a698533bcca

Introducing Anna @ Exploring Digital Heritage

Hello !

I’m a student participating in the bachelor of heritage, museums and conservation program at uc. I begrudgingly enrolled in this unit – little confidence in using computational tools and barely turned on by digital interfaces – however, Tim’s work and facilitation has enthralled me and I’m looking forward to proposing a project based on my interests: our world, the landscape, humanity, ideas, art, culture, conscience, instinct, identity, crafting, collecting…..

My background is in making (functional) ceramics & art education, I mostly work in an art gallery, with conservators, curators, archivists, librarians registrars and installers, I like going for walks, cycling and seeing films and practicing yoga.

Wishing you all well.

About me….

As a busy Mum of three it’s not very often about me!

You might be wondering about my username? It’s probably not what you think? For those not yet around in the 80’s, “Summer of Sixty Nine” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f06QZCVUHg (sorry cut and paste :() …is a fab song by Bryan Adams. This is one good reason to have it as my username. The other is that it reflects my vintage. I am, only just, a child of the 60’s (a flower child). I was born the year man landed on the moon… a year that was a significant step forward for me and for mankind.

Many of you will already know that I work at the NMA sounds boring but I look after the Museum’s collection databases EMu, Piction and Collection Explorer.Perhaps in this company that’s not so boring? I love the endless possibilities that collections in digital form offer and while I have worked around data for a long time I can’t code or do more technical stuff myself …yet… that’s why I am here. I hope to learn new and meaningful ways to share my love of all things heritage.

Till next time
Lisa

Hi

My name is Alice and I am from a really small town that not many people know how to pronounce and came to Canberra to study.

I am studying the Exploring Digital Heritage unit mainly because it is a compulsory unit for me.  I might have chosen this unit anyway because it does cover an area of heritage that I do not have much knowledge of.

I do a lot of knitting and sewing.
